Litigation / Mediation / Arbitration
Richard Galli says he has a general
litigation law practice, which hardly tells the whole story: a
handicap discrimination trial in Detroit; a trademark
infringement suit in Cleveland; theft of trade secrets in
Denver; a hotel fire in Puerto Rico; spinal cord inquiries from
everywhere…
As primary or local counsel Richard has
handled environmental law suits; won personal injury awards;
thwarted phony insurance claims; and represented private
businesses and the state of Rhode Island in sex, race, age and
handicap discrimination cases.
Before starting a new litigation group
in 1991, Richard was a partner with more than 15 years of
challenging experience at Adler Pollock & Sheehan, one of the
region’s leading law firms.
Richard assists other lawyers in case and
trial preparation -- especially by incorporating effective
writing and graphic elements into settlement brochures and legal
memoranda.
He is trained as a mediator, and enjoys acting as an arbitrator. He is a strong believer in
alternative dispute resolution, and when asked to arbitrate
cases he makes it a point to render decisions very promptly
after completion of the hearing.
He
graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Law in
1976. Before that, he was a newspaper reporter, editor and photographer.
While in the Army (1969-1971) he served as a Vietnamese
interpreter. He has authored two books: Rescuing Jeffrey, an
acclaimed memoir; and Of Rice and Men, an
affectionately comic novel
based on his wartime experience. In 2007 he spent six
weeks in Iraq as a freelance journalist embedded with Army Civil
Affairs soldiers. His Iraq journal and photo gallery appear at
